Post-Wax Tips for Summer
We’re getting close to the permanent warm temperatures that summer will bring, and you know what that means—time to get smooth! From smooth, beautiful legs to a *ahem* clean bikini area, waxing has a number of benefits beyond simple hair removal. The process in many ways acts as an exfoliate, removing dead skin for an extra level of smooth. Waxing also lasts much longer than shaving, which saves you time and money.
Our pre-wax guide is helpful for getting ready for your appointment, but we have some helpful tips for how to care for your skin after your wax. Your wax specialist will run through the pre-wax guide, but here’s what to expect, especially in the first two days after your appointment.
Purchase a gentle exfoliant or scrub.
Moisturizing is a no-brainer, but using an exfoliant or scrub has benefits as well. Every few days (starting a couple days after your wax), use a gentle scrub or exfoliant on the waxed area. This will help dramatically reduce the chance of ingrown hairs or growth irritation, as well as keeping your skin smooth.

You’ll want to avoid touching the waxed area for a day or two, to avoid developing pimples. That means minimizing certain activities that can cause abrasion during the time period.
Take it easy.
Avoid biking, working out or any other exercise that may cause you to excessively sweat for the first 2 days. You don’t want to do anything that could clog your pores and cause skin irritation. You’ll also want to avoid swimming, as the chemicals in pools could cause discomfort on your delicate skin.
Ok, ok, it may sound a little ironic since you’re getting waxed to enjoy the warm weather, but we recommend you avoid certain kinds of heat to help protect your sensitive post-wax skin. That means taking cooler showers and avoiding things like tanning beds, saunas, steam rooms and yes, sun exposure.
